Winter Track and Field

Our Winter season begins approximately in the second week of December. Athletes compete in the California Winter Championship Qualifier meets held throughout California. The race schedule is subject to change based on what is available. Typically we attend events that are within a one-hour distance. Practice and location schedules are released every week.

Sprinters will meet at El Camino High School.
Distance locations will vary per week.

Athlete Goals

All Veteran, New, and Young Athletes:

Encouraged to try different events and see what events they would like to compete in the spring season.
To use these meets to shake out any nerves before the official season begins.
Understand proper event structure and etiquette.
Learn to apply the meet routines via warm-ups and cool-downs when running multiple events.
To make mistakes and learn from them to avoid making those mistakes in the spring season.

Veteran High School Athletes:

To qualify for the Winter Championships held at Arcadia High School
To qualify for Nike Indoor Nationals, New Balance Indoor Nationals, OR Addidas Indoor Nationals.

Athletes will learn:

Sprint Mechanics
Proper pace for long distances
How to exchange batons for relay races
Strengthening drills
Range of motion exercises
